Fearful

The Kentucky Meat Shower

Listen Later

On a clear March morning in 1876, chunks of raw meat rained from the sky over Bath County, Kentucky, startling locals and covering the Crouch family farm in what appeared to be beef, lamb, or even human flesh. Scientists analyzed the samples, identifying lung tissue, muscle, and cartilage, yet the origin remained a mystery. The most plausible explanation points to a flock of vultures vomiting mid flight, a defensive behavior, casting their half digested meals over the countryside and leaving behind one of the strangest weather events in American history.
