How many times a day are you asked about the ketogenic diet? What do you tell your patients? Does the keto diet really work for weight loss? What about for neurological disorders and cancer?
Joining me on the podcast via Skype from Tampa, Florida is Dr. Angela Poff, research associate in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She holds a PhD in medical sciences. Her research focuses on the development and characterization of metabolic-based, non-toxic therapies for cancer and neurological disorders including ketogenic therapies.
I’ve heard referred to as ‘Atkins on steroids’ is everywhere yet controversial as it goes against other popular diets like the Mediterranean which has a totally different macronutrient makeup. As a refresher let’s review the ketogenic diet.
How does the metabolism of our brains change as we age and in neurodegenerative diseases? Listen as Dr. Poff explains.
