"God helps those who help themselves." That's what we hear a lot, and it's even quoted as Scripture. Even though it's not found in the Bible, is the idea biblical? Certainly God helps people - but what are the characteristics of those who receive his help? We look at Genesis 14, when Lot is taken captive, rescued by Abram, and when we meet Melchizedek.
