Is Jesus God, or the Son of God? In Season 3, Episode 4 of The Kingdom Order, Dr. Kevin Malone and Dr. DeWeylla Malone examine Messiah's identity through his own words rather than through later theological formulas.
Starting from "Whom say ye that I am?" and Peter's confession that Yahushua is the Messiah, the Son of the living Elohim, the hosts walk through the passages most often cited to equate the Son with the Father — John 10:30, John 14:9, and John 1:1-14 — and argue that each one describes unity of purpose, authority, and work rather than a single person. They point to Yahushua praying to the Father, quoting the Shema from Deuteronomy 6, telling the people to worship Yahuah alone, and repeatedly saying that the doctrine and the words he spoke were not his own but the Father's.
The conversation also addresses what the hosts see as the practical cost of the confusion: worship, songs, and prayer directed almost entirely to the Son while the Father goes unacknowledged. They distinguish the honor Scripture gives the Son — Lord, Master, Messiah, High Priest, intercessor, Savior, the one given all authority in heaven and earth — from the highest worship they say belongs to Yahuah alone.
In the closing segment, Dr. Kevin and Dr. DeWeylla give their view of how the confusion developed, attributing it to Greek philosophical categories such as essence, substance, nature, co-equality, and co-eternity being applied to a Hebrew text, and to church councils of the first through third centuries adopting terminology they say was never spoken by Yahushua or the apostles. These are the hosts' positions on contested history, offered as a call to re-examine inherited doctrine — not, as they state directly, to condemn sincere believers.
This episode builds on Episode 3, and the next episode takes up Trinitarian doctrine: one God or three.
