The Knowledge Industry is a podcast about the changing nature of education in California. Season one focuses on the potentially dramatic effect AB-927, a law that opens the doors to more bachelor’s degrees at the state’s community colleges could have on higher education. In this episode, hosts Philip Salata and Jakob McWhinney reflect on the developments leading up to AB-927, including the law’s pilot program predecessor SB-850. It also discusses the California Master Plan for Higher Education, which for the past 60 years has laid the ground rules for the state’s systems of higher ed.
