We typically think that the first people to learn of the birth of a new king, apart from his family, would be people of importance--noblemen, presidents perhaps. Why did God select shepherds as some of the first humans to learn that Messiah had come? Jesus set His kingly attributes aside and became a man. Jesus didn't have to be born in a stable--he chose to.
