When Kathy’s son died in a burning building fighting a fire without life-saving equipment, she vowed to make a difference in the lives of other firefighters. They discuss some shocking and disturbing truths about cancer rates in the industry and the reality of the lack of funding for the men and women that are on the front line of battling fires.  They started the Last Call Foundation - their mission is “To provide funding, education and research to advance the safety needs of the firefighting community. We are committed to enhancing the ability of our dedicated firefighting professionals to effectively and safely fight fires and protect the public.” They started the Last Call Foundation in memory of Michael Kennedy.  Host Kelli's dad @kakuhn.160 is running the Boston Marathon this year on the Last Call Foundation charity team.
