In this episode, I take a look at the last Covenanter martyr, a young man by the name of James Renwick. He was one of the Scottish Presbyterians who were horribly persecuted during the "Killing Times" in Scotland, persecuted for holding illegal worship services in the fields called conventicles. Renwick was sent away to be educated and then came back to Scotland to lead the resistance party against prelacy (rule of the church by bishops) and Erastianism (rule of the church by Kings). Eventually, Renwick was killed by being hanged on the gallows at the Grassmarket in Edinborough.
