Christopher John Cornell was an American musician, singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist for the rock band Soundgarden. Cornell was considered one of the chief architects of the Seattle grunge movement in thre ‘90’s and is well known for his extensive song catalog and belting four-octave vocal range. Cornell struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts for much of his life and was known for using alcohol, hallucinogens and PCP in his teens. But on May 18, 2017, after years of sobriety, Cornell was found dead in a Detroit hotel room after performing at a Soundgarden concert the night before. Now forensic pathologist, Dr. Michael Hunter, studies coroner reports from the scene and first-hand accounts to piece together the final hours of Chris Cornell’s life and determine what really caused his death. We’ll drop a new Autopsy podcast every Wednesday. Next week, Dr. Hunter re-examines the suicide of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain.
