0:20 – In early October, protests erupted over the shooting and killing of a young man in Nigeria’s Delta State allegedly by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives. Protests quickly grew overnight to an organized, nationwide movement led by Nigerian youth using the hashtag #EndSARS. SARS was infamously known for extrajudicial killings, rape and extortion among many other reported crimes. Earlier this week, SARS forces shot live ammunition into a crowd of protesters sparking worldwide condemnation.
Marie David is a Nigerian attorney, entrepreneur and organizer of an #EndSARS global coalition team with the objective of bringing awareness to the ongoing anti-governmental corruption efforts in Nigeria.
