Karl Marlantes is a critically acclaimed author of Matterhorn, What It Is Like To Go To War, and Deep River. All of his works were inspired by his service in the Vietnam War as the platoon commander of 1st Battalion, 4th Marines where he heroically lead an assault on a hilltop bunker complex, earning the Navy Cross.
