This discussion addresses how ideas of transcendence, faith and despair relate to the work of Edward Krasinski, Cerith Wyn Evans and others in the exhibition. The starting point is be Søren Kierkegaard’s reflections on the ‘leap of faith’, and how the existential philosopher’s project coerces the reader to experience polarisations of doubt and hope.
The panel leading the discussion comprised of Mark Dean (artist and Anglican Chaplain and Interfaith Adviser for the University of the Arts London) Jo Melvin (Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Theory, Chelsea College of Arts), Alex Sainsbury (Director of Raven Row) and Michael Bracewell (curator of Play What’s Not There).
