Recently I was able to interview Chief Shon Barnes who is the Chief of Police in Madison, Wisconsin. I first met Chief Barnes when I was co-facilitating the Council on Policing Reforms and Race for the National Policing Institute. He is an impressive member of the next generation of leaders that are emerging in policing in America. Chief Barnes also is part of the 54th Mile Policing Project which is a documentary about a 54 mile walk he took from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama retracing the steps of Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lewis. In this interview I spoke about Chief Barnes' values and about the legacy that he's inherited and the one that he is seeking to leave behind.
