The Legal Journey of Robert Baltovich

Listen Later

One of Canada's most notorious unsolved murders: Elizabeth Bain. She went to check out something at her university and never came home. A few days later, her car was found nearby with blood stains in the backseat. Was it the Scarborough Rapist? Was it someone else? According to Elizabeth's mother, it is Robert Baltovich. However, after 18 years, Robert was able to clear his name when the Court of Appeal in Ontario overturned his conviction and ordered a new trial. It was during this new trial that Robert finally heard the words "not guilty". Let's explore the legal reasons behind this verdict.
