A figure watching over children in December noting whether they are good or naughty is not surprising as children in America are often told that Santa Claus does that… however, the figure we talk about tonight is Krampus.  First seen in literature in the 1500s, Krampus is the often seen as the anti-St. Nick, punishing the bad children while St. Nick rewards the good ones.
