There is no doubt that following up THE LEGO MOVIE was going to be tough, but the sequel does what every good sequel should do, it tests its characters and forces them to grow into more mature, grittier, harder, and tougher versions of themselves.
The interesting question that THE LEGO MOVIE 2 asks is: Is this darker version the proper version to become?
