The city of Leipzig has a great sporting tradition. Here, the German Football Association (Deutsche Fußball-Bund), DFB was established and the city was also home to the first national football champions. But the German Cycling Federation (Bund Deutscher Radfahrer) has its roots here, and several Olympic champions trained at German College for Physical Education (Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur) which is based in the city. Sport’s pre-eminent importance to the city of Leipzig is also demonstrated by its very own sports museum.
