Ashton Craig named to Rimington Trophy Watch List
What’s happening:
Notre Dame junior center Ashton Craig has been named to the 2025 Rimington Trophy Watch List, an honor recognizing the nation’s top center in college football.
Why it matters:
Craig becomes the latest Irish standout to be recognized for elite play in the trenches. He joins Jeff Faine (2002) and Braxston Cave (2012) as the only Notre Dame players to earn Rimington finalist honors.
Flashback:
In 2023, Craig started at center in the Sun Bowl and was named to the AP All-Bowl Team.
He helped Notre Dame’s O-line become a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award in both 2023 and 2024.
A season-ending injury cut his 2024 short after three starts.
By the numbers:
Notre Dame ranked No. 4 among Power 4 teams in yards per carry (5.66) and No. 6 in rushing offense (210.8 ypg).
The Irish led all Power 4 teams with 45 rushing touchdowns.
ND consistently outperformed opponents' rushing defense averages by 84.69 yards and 2.27 yards per carry in every 2024 game.
What’s next:
Craig is expected to anchor a veteran line as he returns for 2025. The Rimington Trophy winner will be announced at the ESPN College Football Awards in December.
