CNN’s Chris Cuomo ended a recent program by telling his viewers that America doesn’t need God; that what we need is within us. Closing his segment he said, “If you believe in one another and if do the right thing for yourself and your community, things will get better in this country. You don’t need help from above. It’s within us,” And he said this while pointing a finger to the sky.
The question "Why Do I need God?" is a thorny one and in this show today, Rob gives an answer to this question from the angle that without an objective framework, one will not be able to truly know their identity, their meaning and purpose and have an objective standard of morality. Rob sets out a few caveats in the beginning, one of which by stating that one does not want to confuse this question with the ideas of physical contentment versus spiritual contentment. He also points to those who claim to be free from religion that even those who embrace that claim. By quoting the atheists, naturalists and theists, Rob builds a case that concludes with an illustration from a popular biblical account and how that situation points to the cross of Christ.
