Whenever you are involved in a conversation with someone who is skeptical about the Bible, it is usually because they have a preconceived idea that they do not all say the same thing. Mormons may throw down the objection to historical Christianity saying that the Christian church is not united because of all the Bible translations available. Are these objections valid? Is there any truth to them? It all depends on what you want to argue about. Independent Baptist Evangelicals believe the KJV is the only credible translation while others cherry pick versions that do not even qualify as a bona fide translation, but are more of a paraphrase at best and a "interpretive thought devotional" mislabeled as a "translation.
