While most Americans were carving turkeys or stuck in holiday traffic, a quiet man in a cheap suit and clip-on tie walked up to the Northwest Orient counter at Portland International Airport, paid twenty bucks cash for a one-way ticket to Seattle, and boarded Flight 305 like he belonged there. He gave his name as “Dan Cooper.” Nobody thought twice about it.
