We had a great time digging into the news to find the nuggets of libertarian gold and nutrifying soil of freedom, and from that fecund garden, we derived many long-term principles for peace. We even got to share Wordsmith Wednesday, focusing on the great guy and great writer, Brian Lumley, whose “Necroscope” series has gripped imaginations for years!

UKRAINE - The US Ambassador to Ukraine just said that $2 Bill in US arms soon will arrive in Ukraine and that, get this, “Russia is weak” right now. This, as Russia literally encircles a vast number of Ukrainian troops and President Putin calls for a momentary ceasefire in that zone to allow media in to interview the trapped Ukrainian soldiers. ++**Aaron Mate gave more reliable details that reveal the Israeli claims to be baseless, especially considering the long-term occupation, and the fact that the Israeli forces claiming they were attacked comes through the actual FACT that those forces were INSIDE the YELLOW LINE, where they are not supposed to be. Trump has no problem with that, and blames Hamas, despite Israel’s numerous breaches of the ceasefire in the last week, and JD Vance calls the IDF massacre of innocents a “little skirmish” LINK

+The US Senate voted to STOP Trump from imposing tariffs on Brazil. They don’t need to do this. They need to call for impeachment via the House. He is wantonly anti-constitutional, but, of course, so are most of the Senators, most of the time LINK
With the US possibly targeting Lula in Brazil, (being a member of BRICS is viewed by the US as threatening the ugly, bloody, inflated Federal Reserve Note), the Brazilian govt just conducted a big raid on what the govt there says is a drug-tied mobster gang. Though they should not have had to vote, because it’s obvious that Trump cannot impose tariffs from the Executive Branch, the Senate just voted to end Trump’s tariffs on Brazil. LINK
FEDERAL GOVT SHUTDOWN - SNAP WELFARISM - IMMIGRATION
Half of the state govts in the US have sued Trump for stoppage of food stamps. LINK
Some recipients of the SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) from the unconstitutional USDA are making TikTok vis saying that if the SNAP payments stop because of the federal govt shutdown, they will just steal from grocery stores and other retailers. LINK
+On Boston radio this morning, WRKO host Jeff Kuhner targeted legal migrants for receiving SNAP, talking about the expense of paying THEM, as if the other SNAP recipients somehow “deserve” the stolen money. Here is an overview of how much the US has spent on “American” and “Non-American” recipients of the graft, and a way to stress that none of it is moral or constitutional.
+This politician doesn’t seem to understand the difference between voluntaryism and forced payments. LINK
FY2020: Total SNAP benefits ≈ $78 billion, with citizens receiving the vast majority (roughly 96%, or ≈ $75 billion); non-citizen legal migrants ≈ $3–4 billion.
FY2021: Total ≈ $125 billion, citizens ≈ $120 billion; non-citizens ≈ $4–5 billion.
FY2022: Total ≈ $120 billion, citizens ≈ $115 billion; non-citizens ≈ $4–5 billion.
FY2023: Total ≈ $115 billion, citizens ≈ $110 billion; non-citizens ≈ $4–5 billion. FY2024: Total ≈ $100 billion, citizens ≈ $95 billion; non-citizens ≈ $4–5 billion.
These are federal benefit outlays (the primary USDA spending on SNAP benefits). Non-citizen figures are rough estimates based on consistent ~4% of recipients being eligible non-citizens across years, with similar per-person benefits; exact breakdowns by citizenship aren’t published annually by USDA but hover around this range given stable eligibility rules and ~1.5–1.8 million non-citizen participants yearly.
