LINK Thomas Massie notes the charm and integrity of Trump (sarcasm here, comrades) as, on CHRISTMAS DAY, Trump lumps Massie in with “lowlife scum” like Epstein (with whom Trump was dear friends for decades) and certain Dems. US STRIKES NIGERIA ON CHRISTMAS - Yep. Purportedly to “protect Christians” from persecution, but, as we pointed out three weeks ago on Liberty Conspiracy, the vast bulk of violent crime in Nigeria is not against Christians. Christians ARE at the top, or near it, of targets among RELIGIOUS groups in Nigeria, but the majority of violent crime, of course, is not directed at them - there are sundry “reasons” for the crimes. And, even if it were, there’s not a line of ink in the US Constitution that permits Trump to do this, and, even if the Constitution were amended, no one has a right to threaten you in order to make you cough up the dough to let him do anything, ANYTHING. UKRAINE - Get this! The Russians repeatedly have pointed out that Zelensky is not the legal-constitutional “President” of Ukraine because he is well past the end of the term for which he was elected. This places into jeopardy any “peace treaty” Russia and Ukraine reach, because it could be claimed to be invalid in the future. Thus, Putin and others correctly have called for new elections in Ukraine before any final deal (if it arises) is signed. Buuuuuut… Zelensky now claims that, despite the hundreds of BILLIONS in financial (our taxes) “support” from the US, NATO, the EU, Canada, and the UK, he doesn’t have enough money to hold secure elections. Again, SERIOUSLY! LINK
ISRAEL - As Antiwar notes: “A Monday strike on the southern Lebanese city of Sidon destroyed a car and killed three people within. At the time, the IDF said they believed Hezbollah operatives were in the area, but they didn’t immediately claim that they actually hit Hezbollah.
That’s changed, and now they’re purporting that everyone in the car was a Hezbollah member, including the one who the IDF said was a member of Lebanese Army intelligence. -This SCOTUSBLOG opinion piece is worth reading. It traces its moral thread back to the evils of the 1793 Fugitive Slave Act, and an 1837 SCOTUS ruling that not only upheld it, but established a “wink and a nod” to racial profiling. The case, called “Prigg v Pennsylvania” saw northern state police forces stopping black people for nothing more than the color of their skin, similar to numerous ICE stoppages of people in many states, and in line with what the Trump Administration actually ARGUED they should be able to do, just… racially profile someone, and assume he or she is guilty or suspected of committing a crime. Many freed slaves lived in the northern states prior to the Civil War, and the federal government prohibited any level of the polis to stop, question, search, or seize from anyone without a judge-issued warrant upon the judge determining there was probable cause. Said warrant is supposed to name the person to be searched and the item sought. With both the Fugitive Slave Act and the current Trump invasion of states with ICE, the warrantless oppression was/is rampant. LINK
