Parental backlash against Lifetouch, a major school photography provider, is leading to canceled picture days in multiple U.S. districts, stemming from its indirect ties to Jeffrey Epstein through former Apollo Global Management CEO Leon Black, who paid Epstein $158 million for financial advice and appears in unsealed Epstein documents. Lifetouch is owned by Shutterfly, a subsidiary of Apollo, co-founded by Black in 1990.

The exchanges are dated long after Epstein’s FLA conviction. These are from around 2014-2015, and reveal Epstein suggesting Ruemmler consult Eric Holder for a “baseline” on the position while offering to find a payer for her housing, amid her role defending Epstein post-conviction and managing his estate as an executor.
These ties, confirmed in 2026 Justice Department releases and reported by outlets like The Wall Street Journal and CNN, have sparked scrutiny at Goldman Sachs, where Ruemmler serves as top lawyer, highlighting Epstein’s influence over elite legal and political networks.
Kathy Ruemmler also sought Jeffrey Epstein’s advice and coaching during her pursuit of a senior role at Facebook (now Meta) in 2018 and 2019. This included emailing him a draft letter to Sheryl Sandberg in July 2018 and discussing meetings with Meta executives in 2019, with Epstein providing guidance throughout the process. The effort ultimately did not result in her joining Meta; she instead joined Goldman Sachs in 2020. Beyond Ruemmler’s own well-documented professional and personal ties to Epstein (including thousands of emails, gifts, and career advice exchanged between 2014 and 2019). Other connections include Epstein maintaining a personal account at Goldman Sachs, as revealed in a suspicious activity report filed by JPMorgan Chase shortly after his death in 2019. Epstein was also viewed as a “gatekeeper” for a client account involving the Swiss bank Edmond de Rothschild Group, which was transferred to Ruemmler around 2014 via another lawyer’s introduction.
Ruemmler (also known as Kathryn Ruemmler) was closely tied to President Barack Obama through her senior legal roles in his administration.
She joined the Obama administration in January 2009 as Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice.
In January 2010, she became Principal Deputy White House Counsel, serving under White House Counsel Bob Bauer.
On June 30, 2011, President Obama appointed her as White House Counsel (the president’s chief lawyer), a position she held until June 2, 2014. Obama described her as having “impeccable judgment” and praised her leadership of the Counsel’s office.
She was Obama’s longest-serving White House Counsel, advising him on all legal matters related to domestic and foreign policy, national security, significant litigation (including key Supreme Court cases), and other high-stakes issues.
Obama personally announced her appointment as White House Counsel in 2011, highlighting her role in managing the office’s responsibilities alongside Bauer. Sources like her Wikipedia page, Goldman Sachs bio, official White House archives, and multiple news reports (e.g., CNN, WSJ) consistently describe her as one of Obama’s most trusted senior advisors during his presidency.

“JOBS REPORT”MIRAGE - The January 2026 jobs report showed a net increase of 130,000 nonfarm payroll jobs over the month, which exceeded economists’ expectations (ranging from 55,000 to 80,000 based on various forecasts). This marked what Trumpistas are calling a “rebound” from the weak job growth seen throughout 2025, where total nonfarm payroll additions were revised downward to just 181,000 for the full year (an average of about 15,000 per month).
Keep in mind, the “gain in new hires” does not mean an increase in the employed. The unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted, from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics household survey) was 4.0% in January 2025. It was 4.4% in December 2025. For January, the unemployment rate was virtually unchanged, 4.3%.
The key for the January “jobs report” is that it only goes into “positive” territory because of medical care jobs, which typically are tied to government subsidies.
Health care led the gains with 82,000 new jobs, followed by social assistance (42,000) and construction (33,000) (also subsidized by government, as we saw a DECLINE in new home starts and a flatline in office construction last year). In January 2025, total housing starts were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of approximately 1,358,000 to 1,366,000 units (sources vary slightly due to initial vs. revised figures, but consistently around 1.36 million SAAR).
By late 2025, the pace had trended lower in many months, with October 2025 (the latest detailed monthly figure available as of early 2026) at 1,246,000 SAAR — a notable decline from earlier in the year.
