IMMIGRATION POLICE STATE

We begin with what appears to be a change in policy from Trump that comports more closely to his constitutional oath. Notice in this segment from Trump’s Thursday evening NBC interview that he not only is removing 700 ICE agents from Minneapolis (that’s a drop in the bucket re federal goons who are there), Trump tells Llamas that he now will only enter into states with federal forces if “asked” by the state or a city. Technically, Article Four Section Four of his US Constitution mandates that the feds only may enter a state with armed force if invited by the state legislature or, if the legislature is out of session, the state governor inviting/asking for help to preserve their republican form of government or guard against violence. As I noted for MRCTV a few times, the only state governors who I know have asked have been Abbott of Texas and deSantis, of FLA. Here is the segment…

(BTW, that’s a relatively NEW feature we are using here at the News Notes! Thank you, Substack!)
-Too late for this man…

-The Wall Street Journal reports that the Trump administration is implementing a new policy to significantly curtail immigrants’ ability to appeal deportation decisions, aiming to accelerate removals amid its aggressive immigration enforcement push.Key changes include reducing the time to file an appeal from 30 days to 10 days after a deportation order. Appeals will face automatic dismissal if not resolved within 15 days, without needing a majority vote from the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), stripping many immigrants of procedural rights in the process. The policy, driven by the Department of Justice and executive actions, seeks to streamline deportations, reduce backlogs in immigration courts, and support the broader “mass deportation” agenda. It comes amid reports of overwhelmed federal prosecutors and courts handling increased caseloads from raids and crackdowns.Critics argue it undermines due process, while supporters view it as necessary for efficiency. The changes are part of ongoing efforts in early 2026 to limit legal avenues for noncitizens facing removal. LINK - None of that is constitutional.

-An update… Recall that we got to discuss the plight of this man, whom ICE mid-January shot in the leg…

WARISRAEL-US-IRAN

-As expected, the unrealistic demands by the antagonistic US and Israel that Iran giver up its nuclear enrichment (so far, used for energy and medical facility functions, and never brought to a weapons-grade level) and have it done outside the nation — the demands have been rejected by Iranian negotiators in Oman.
US officials and those working with the foreign minister of Iran concluded a round of indirect nuclear talks in Muscat (Oman) mediated by Omani officials. The discussions focused primarily on Iran’s nuclear program, with Iran rejecting U.S. demands to end uranium enrichment but expressing willingness to discuss limits on levels and purity. Key participants:

  • U.S. side — Special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner (Trump’s son-in-law); CENTCOM chief Adm. Brad Cooper attended as a signal.

  • Iranian side — Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Both sides described the talks as a “good start” or “positive,” agreeing to continue in coming days after consultations in their capitals. Gaps remain large, with the U.S. pushing for broader issues like the insane push for Iran to give up all ballistic missiles and to not back proxies. No breakthrough occurred, amid ongoing tensions and recent U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil sector.
The US sanctions on Iran’s oil sector primarily prohibit dealings in Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals. They target Iran’s primary revenue source, which funds its nuclear program, terrorism proxies, and domestic repression. Key mechanisms include:

  • Designations under Executive Order 13846 (reimposing sanctions post-JCPOA withdrawal) and related orders like 13902, blocking property of sanctioned entities/individuals and barring US persons from transactions.

  • Focus on the “shadow fleet” — covert tankers using deceptive practices (e.g., AIS disabling, ship-to-ship transfers, flag-hopping) to evade restrictions.

Latest development (as of today, 3 PM, eastern US time here at the G Estate): The State Department (with OFAC) sanctioned 15 entities, 2 individuals, and 14 vessels for trading/transporting Iranian oil/petroleum/petrochemicals. This targets ship managers (e.g., in China, Turkey, Liberia), traders, and vessels moving millions of barrels, often to Asia (mainly China). It aims to disrupt evasion networks amid indirect US-Iran talks in Oman.Compared to a year ago (early 2025): Under the renewed Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign (via NSPM-2 in February 2025), enforcement has intensified significantly. In 2025, the US sanctioned hundreds of vessels/entities (over 180 vessels by late 2025), Chinese “teapot” refineries/importers, and expanded maritime guidance/seizures. The February 2026 action continues this aggressive trend but features one of the largest single maritime-focused packages recently, raising evasion costs, widening discounts on Iranian oil, and reducing per-barrel revenue for Iran despite sustained export volumes (around 1.5–1.8 million bpd, mostly to China)
-US Treas Sec Bessent continues to bloviate and boast about using “sanctions” to harm people in Iran. Not only are “sanctions” really blockades backed by threats of military action (and thus, acts of war), the activity is not sanctioned during times of no declared War, according to the Constitution, and they bring devastation to innocent civilians, as we saw in Iraq. Here is Antiwar’s Headline: “US Treasury Secretary Says US Sanctions Crushed Iran’s Economy and Sparked Protests - News From Antiwar.com” LINK
-Dave DeCamp covers this well in his AntiWar News video for Friday

-Daniel Davis has a very good overview of it all, here - he really digs in at about the 4:30 mark:

US-RUSSIA-NUKES

As we yesterday reported, the old START missile treaty expired at midnight, last night. Now, we hear that Trump does not want Russia’s months-ago proposed year-extension of the treaty. He wants an entirely new treaty. Here is the Antiwar headline: “Trump Says US and Russia Should Negotiate New Nuclear Treaty Instead of Extending New START - News From Antiwar.com” LINK

UKRAINE

Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev (also spelled Alexeyev in some reports), deputy head (or first deputy chief) of Russia’s GRU military intelligence agency, this morning was shot multiple times in his apartment building in Moscow. He remains hospitalized (condition reported as serious or critical in some accounts, but he survived the initial attack). Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov cited Ukraine, calling it a “terrorist act” aimed at disrupting the “negotiation process” to end the war. This likely is a valid point… Multiple reports indicate Alekseyev’s direct involvement in Ukraine-related negotiations or talks:

  • He participated in talks with Ukraine during the 2022 Russian siege of Mariupol (per BBC reporting).

  • His boss, GRU head Admiral Igor Kostyukov, was leading Russia’s delegation in recent negotiations with Ukraine (in Abu Dhabi, focused on security aspects of a potential peace deal), which had stalled without breakthrough just before the shooting.

  • The timing of the attack (shortly after or amid these talks) was highlighted by Russian officials and analysts as suspicious, with claims it was meant to derail ongoing or upcoming discussions (including with Swiss and OSCE officials mentioned in some coverage).

While Alekseyev’s primary role is in military intelligence (including providing intel for the Ukraine invasion, and past sanctions for cyber ops and the Skripal poisoning), these sources confirm he had a history of involvement in negotiation efforts tied to the conflict, such as the Mariupol talks. He was also notably involved in 2023 negotiations with Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin during his mutiny (unrelated to Ukraine directly). LINK

EPSTEIN FILES

-Breaking, from the UK

-And more ties to the info we already knew re the US-backed Iron Curtain (Ukraine) biolabs, in the Epstein files

Mike Benz makes strong points re Epstein’s influence in the Clinton State Dept.

And Glenn Greenwald offers great sarcasm re the “Epstein worked for RUSSSSSSSIIIIIAAA” canard.

-And let’s not forget this important information

-And this, from rapper Lowkey

-But, despite the fact that Epstein tried and failed to influence Putin, some pop media figures keep pushing the false notion he was working for Russia. It’s surreal.

Closing today’s Epstein files with this

TARIFF TERRORISM - US ECONOMY

-Bessent not only loves to harm Iranians, he wants to continue harming YOU. He tells reporters that, even IF Canada dropped all tariffs against US exports, he would not want to drop US tariffs against Canadian exports to us. LINK
-And…

-At first glance, one might think this information indicates great employment, and low unemployment. NOPE. It tells us businesses are not creating new jobs

-Steven Rattner provides the other facet that helps put that stat in perspective.
