WARIRAN, US, ISRAELDespite the way this post describes it, the fact that Iran is exercising the MoU, which grants Iran the power to control the Strait, is clear. But, though the US aggression against Iran is the obvious origin of the problem, one might also ask how the US and Iran can negotiate an agreement that includes control over the area of the Strait that is Omani water. The Omanis appear to be leaning towards working with Iran in the future, but the very premise, leveraged off the illegitimate US aggression, is odd.

And as part of the push, and to be read for the EU-supplied, US/NATO-supplied weapons that will be in Ukrainian hands in a few months, the Russian government has stepped up its manufacture of numerous types of weapons. Russian oil profits have helped sustain the war expenditures, but this wartime spending cannot continue at this level for another year without more evident trouble for Russia’s GDP.

Meanwhile, NATO meets in Ankara, and there is a big charade going on in the heart of their US-NATO-Ukraine theatre. First, we hear that Trump doesn’t want to see Zelinskyy. Yet Trump and the US government are readying another $9 BILLION to hand to Ukraine, and Trump and Congress have INCREASED spending on NATO by $2 billion for 2025, not decreased it. Second, NATO and the EU are preparing huge investments in arms to send to Ukraine, particularly to create quick-to-make drones, which Ukraine already has used to kill many Russian civilians. Here is part of the picture, as the Europeans and the DC arms makers grow desperate to make more cash and push more of this insane “wartime economy” insanity, even as Russia makes more ground and lives could be saved if Ukraine would sue for peace.

Daniel Davis and Jim Jatras offer very nuanced thoughts on the NATO members’ very visible push for more spending and military aid to Ukraine, while Trump appears to be “less keen”… But, as we said, he appears to be playing at a masquerade.
For example, the US-Turkey relationship. Trump appears to be ready to upset Netanyahu by offering to sell f-35s to Turkey. This would require Turkey to give up some older US military items it has in storage, but the key here is the shadow-play, or what I suspect is that. Erdogan repeatedly has offered empty rhetoric about Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Jerusalem, and the West Bank. As he speak up about Israel, he continues to sell Israel oil — a lot of oil. Without the oil (like the Israelis are dependent on US weapons and money) the Israelis would have to end their genocide, ethnic cleansing, and occupations at least in Lebanon. Recently, Erdogan again showed upset at Israel attacking Lebanon. But he has not cut off the oil, and Trump’s move to sell planes to Turkey is part of this larger narrative the US and Israel started two weeks ago pretending there was a rancor building between Trump and Netanyahu. That all is for show, until they reach the elections in the US come November. The Israelis have no problem with Trump offering the sale to Turkey either because they know it won’t go through, or because they know that the US and Israel are going to help Turkey take Syrian land. MAINE SENATE RACEThe Democrat race to go up against milquetoast GOP-er Susan Collins got crazier in the last 12 hours, as popular candidate Graham Platner (who opposes US aid to Israel and might be an AIPAC target) has been accused of sexual assault/rape.
Allegations against Graham Platner:
The most prominent recent allegation, reported by Politico on July 6, 2026, comes from Jenny Racicot, who dated Platner on-and-off from roughly 2019 to 2021. She claims that in late 2021, Platner entered her rural Maine home uninvited while deeply intoxicated, became forceful (including grabbing her pelvis), and had non-consensual sex with her despite her repeated objections to stop. She says she cut off contact afterward and told him the encounter was not consensual. Platner has categorically denied the allegation, calling it “troubling, serious, and false,” and stated that he and his campaign are “taking the time to reflect on the best path forward.” LINK
This follows earlier reports (notably a June 2026 New York Times piece) from multiple women who dated Platner describing his behavior in past relationships as “unsettling,” demeaning to women, emotionally volatile, and in at least one case physically threatening or intimidating. There have also been reports of him sexting multiple women while married (around 2023–2025), past Reddit comments that downplayed sexual assault, and controversy over a Nazi-era Totenkopf (death’s head) tattoo on his chest, which he said he did not realize the meaning of at the time and later covered.
These issues have led to widespread fallout: the Maine Democratic Party and numerous prominent Democrats (including Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, Ro Khanna, Ruben Gallego, and others) have rescinded endorsements and called for Platner to withdraw from the race before the candidate replacement deadline. The DSCC has indicated it will not invest in the race while he remains the nominee. Platner is reportedly weighing whether to drop out.
WHO MIGHT THROW THE PROVERBIAL HAT IN THE UGLY POLITICAL RING? Former Maine Gubernatorial Candidate Shah…
-Nirav Shah has said he would not vote to send aid to Israel and has affirmed that Israel is committing genocide (in the context of Gaza). LINK
This marks a clear, explicit stance on the issue. Earlier coverage of his gubernatorial campaign (which he lost in the Democratic primary) noted that his platform announcements often omitted foreign policy, Palestine, or Israel/Gaza matters entirely. His 2026 gubernatorial bid received significant outside support (over $630,000 in TV ads) from the 314 Action Fund, a PAC focused on electing scientists and doctors that has been criticized by some progressives as having pro-Israel/AIPAC-linked ties (though Shah declined a pledge to reject all outside Super PAC money).
