Life is in the Lord and death is the result of our rejecting the Him. The Lord has been patient with Israel, but they continue to reject him. Israel has failed to return to the Lord (repent). In Amos 8-9, the Lord gives Israel what they want; it is not God who abandons Israel, but Israel who abandons God and thus judgment. Israel will not escape it’s judgment. Yet, even with judgment comes a promise of restoration for a remnant.
