Love this beautifully written book!
This book delightfully describes The Little Boy, Who Was Precious and his loving family as he grows and then takes an extended visit to his grandparents house while his parents travel to visit family overseas. Parents and kids will enjoy the Little Boy's adventures(we sure did) and it can help parents tackle topics like separation anxiety in a positive way. The deep love in the Little Boy's family is touching and almost palpable making this an amazing, moving, and yet easy read. The illustrations are soft and beautifully drawn, their gentle nature welcoming any child to imagine while reading that they are that Little Boy, Who Was Precious. Loved it!
Recommended for children, parents and grandparents
highly recommended, especially for children who's parents work away from home for long periods and also for grandparents. The story is simply beautifully put and Chesnut's writing style really flows as a story. It's a fantastic children's book which appeals to both adults and children. The illustrations completely compliment the story. A beautiful children's book.
A cute little story!
THE LITTLE BOY, WHO WAS PRECIOUS by Reagan Chesnut, Illustrated by Noemi Manalang is a wonderful childrenâs book. A touching tale of family, going away to visit with grandparents, and a little boy who learns, he is precious in more ways than one. What a precious tale of a little boy, his family, and the love they had for him and the imagination of a little boy. Vivid illustrations. Well written and easy to follow. A great read for but parents and grandparents alike. A touching tale! I would recommend an age range of 6+. Received for an honest review from the author.

Appealing to wordsmiths
This great book is filled with mind-stimulating phrases which tell a wonderful story of a family's generational interactions and influence. It is delightful to flow in and out of the imagination of the Little Boy as we read how his mind creates great adventure out of his everyday surroundings. Those who know Reagan Chesnut's family will recognize lots of details tied directly to real people, places, and situations; but these details easily translate to experiences we have all had in our own lives. I am especially impressed by the observations which convey the love and care of the parents and grandparents as well as the appreciation the boy has for his extended family. The illustrations augment the details as we discover the Alaphoenix is the boy's amplification of Grandma's backyard chicken. The text has poetic rhythm and an interesting pace like a stage play. Phrases like "one and two quarters," and "when the air hung around the house like a lazy uncle," will provoke both deep thought and laughter.
