Great little story perfect right now as it takes place over Christmas holidays
A story about two sisters, one living in London and the other living in Greece. Ella makes a trip home to Greece after finding out about her husband's cheating. Almost immediately she is jealous of how close Maddy and her mother are. So when Maddy's trip to London is threatened by a lack of funds, Ella gives it to her so that she can have her mother to herself for a few days. But Maddy's visit to London is not as incredible as she thought it would be. First of all her luggage is lost and then the incredible opportunity she had falls through. Can she make the best of what is going right or will she be going home before she has even really had the chance to see London? And will Ella have the chance to reconnect with her mother or is it too many years too late?
I really loved this book - it had rom-come elements
I really loved this book - it had rom-come elements, but it's main characters are two sisters and how their parents divorce affected them. Which makes it sound sad and heavy - it isn't, and there is a romance - it just want the main plot point. Thus book was well-written and I want to read more books by this author.
Not worth the price -- even for free
Once I start reading a book, I rarely quit before the end, but in this case I made an exception at about the 30% read mark. I disliked Ella's shallow character from the first page, even though I'm sure the author redeems Ella by the end of the book. I didn't relate to the designer wardrobe name dropping or to the London English references and expressions. Obviously the target audience for this book does not include a 60-something, retired, casual lifestyle, West Coast (USA) resident.
Wonderful holiday (and life) story!
I very much enjoyed this book and also the other Jenny Oliver novels available on Amazon. She has a captivating writing style that sweeps you up in each character.
