  1. OT & NT specific and directed by God. It was not a committee concoction
  2. One of the charges Yahweh will level against the people is they did not fulfill the Sinai Covenant, and the penalty is exile and servitude. A substantial portion of the Sinai Covenant is the public worship of the Lord. It is very specific and precise. Moses writing in Leviticus details the requirements. The prophets are sent to the people of God to worship Him in Spirit (from the heart) and Truth (by the letter of the law). Both/and. Fr. Meagher gives an excellent summary of the OT prescriptions, use, up to the time of Christ.

Text out of context, pray to God in your own room in silence. Ignore 2000 yrs of practice. God is capable of both/and except for sin. And yet God can bring good out of that and His W  shall be accomplished.

Courageous public liturgy keeps the persecutions at bay. Need a true restoration of the home, to Liturgy in the public. Both fundamental to restoration of true, good, beauty.

It is imperative to have a sense of the OT liturgy, because that is the pedagogy of God. God prepares His People very carefully. He is not a God of surprises in regard to his honor. The Apostles and St. Paul, along with the Church fathers from the first centuries would have modeled their liturgy after the OT though adapted to a Christian message.

Some theologians, propose that Christ during His 40 days after the Ascension, directly taught the apostles how He wanted the liturgy to be conducted, and that is reason of way in the earliest years the various public expressions of worship have several similarities.

Consider the opinion of Klaus Gamber, Modern Rite pg 77[1]

“The fundamental acts of worship of the early Church- the celebration of the eucharist, the rites of the sacraments, prayer in common, and the liturgical sermon- all go back to the express command of Jesus or are at least based on his example and commendation. Jesus, however, did not originate these liturgical acts, but took them over from the practice of late Judaism. The primitive Church continued this policy; to a limited extent it created it of its own accord forms of worship which had not already been laid down by Jesus; but to a much greater extent it fashioned its worship according to the liturgical customs of Judaism. In Gentile congregations, borrowings would have been made increasingly from the religious practices of the Graeco-Roman world.”

Truth human person construction of right spaces of construction for worship. Tell when a place is holy. Innately instinctive to the human person. Man is called to worship God in a particular manner irrespective of a generation. The longing of the soul.

Ex/ See largest structures, sports arenas, loveliness, arrangement of motion, people, how we sit, a type of choir, one person verse, response, one side for cheer, another side for the team. There are parallels see it if one is a strong student of the liturgy.

Man by nature is a religious animal, borrowing from Aristotle.
