REVISE GCSE Geography - A podcast by Seneca Learning

The Living World: Global Ecosystems 🌿 GCSE Geography Learning & Revision

Listen Later

In this episode, we’ll explore the six major biomes that define global ecosystems, shaped by climate and latitude. We’ll start with tundra biomes in high latitudes, characterised by permafrost and limited vegetation. Next, we’ll look at grasslands closer to the equator, where wet and dry seasons occur and grasses dominate. We’ll then examine temperate deciduous forests in mid-latitudes, which experience four distinct seasons and feature trees that lose their leaves in winter. Moving on, we’ll discuss tropical rainforests near the tropics, known for their hot, humid conditions and dense vegetation. Finally, we’ll consider hot deserts near the equator, which are arid with extreme temperature variations, and polar biomes, freezing environments located near the poles.
