The history of the cowboy is firmly and deeply rooted in enslaved America and some of the best and brightest cowboys were black...so why is it that you know the names Roy Rogers, Clint Eastwood, & The Marlboro Man but don't know the many significant and impactful black cowboys.

The omission and intentional white washing of the American Cowboy stops now and you have Mr Ivan McClellan to thank. Ivan is a photojournalist and black cowboy enthusiast whose work entitled “Eight Seconds: Black Cowboys in America" sets the record straight on the history of black cowboys and the American Rodeo as we know it.
