Galatians 4:8-11 & 1 Kings 18:17-40 (ESV) - In Isaiah 46:5, the Lord asks who you could compare Him to, as if this person, this thing, this god was somehow His equal. Throughout the Bible, the Lord makes it clear that He alone is God. He has no equals and no rivals that can compare with His majesty and power. But at every point in history, the Lord has been challenged by rivals and opponents that sought to win the hearts of His people. For much of the Old Testament era, worship of the idol Baal was a temptation and threat to the Israelites. But in our passage on Sunday, the Lord would make something very clear to His wayward people: He is the Lord, and there is no one and nothing like Him. May He give us His grace so that we may learn that lesson ourselves!
