In 2 Timothy, the Apostle Paul in his letter to Timothy exhorts him to be strong in the faith and to avoid false teachings and falsehoods. Timothy was the trusted disciple and missionary partner of the Apostle Paul. Paul had appointed him to lead the church in Ephesus- a church which Paul had planted on his missionary journey.

The Apostle Paul warned Timothy to avoid such teachings and to handle the Word of God aright. "Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."
