This is the second episode of The Lord of the Rings 20th Anniversary Retrospective. In this first part of my conversation with Dr. Ritesh Mehta, we talk about how we first got the Tolkien bug, "SmeaGollum" as a creature for empathy, the attention to Middle-earth history details from book to screen, Christopher Tolkien's thoughts on the movies, and how Frodo and Sam's relationship translates to the medium of cinema.
