The Lord's Mercy Protects
Today’s Scripture:
Psalms 40:11 GW (God's Word Translation)
Do not withhold your compassion from me, O Lord. May your mercy and your truth always protect me.
When God shows us mercy, he shows us compassion. His compassion never fails; his mercy is everlasting. Have you ever wondered about God's mercy and how it protects you? Today, we will examine God's mercy and how it is our protection.
The Bible says we are not consumed because of God's great mercy; great is his faithfulness toward us. When we receive God's mercy, we have his protection. Hence, our scripture today says, "Do not withhold your compassion from me." We can replace the word compassion with the word Mercy.
When God withholds his mercy, we are exposed to the enemy's arrows without protection. This, the Psalmist continues by saying, "O Lord. May your mercy and your truth always protect me."
When we are in Christ, we are protected by the mercies of God. When we decide to be outside of Christ, we are left to the perils of sin and the attacks of the enemy without God's Mercy that protects us. I am so thankful for God's mercy, which permanently protects me.
As David says, always, not sometimes, but always. I am never without God's protection because of his mercy toward me. You are never without God's protection and family. His compassion and love will always protect you.
