India  being a large nation both in size and population, with its struggling  socialist kind of economy,   during the three decades from year  1965 to 1995, hence the arrival of important communication mode of Telephones and Television at mass level was much later than other developed countries. So  how  magazines played a vital role  in one way  of what today internet and television does by showing visuals, and in those days Magazines did  by  printing photographs and telling stories, scoop, scams and advertisement .
