My 90 day challenge failed but all was not lost. I gained valuable insight having run the experiment for just 30 days!

How it started:

What better way to test theories, learn, have data that helps my clients and potential clients, and also build my personal brand that helps me towards my career goals of becoming a paid songwriter, right?

How it Ended:

What started as an attempt to grow a personal brand on 3 different platforms at once in order to research and run tests for myself and clients, turned into an obsessive, time consuming activity that put a strain on my marriage.

The title of the episode probably gives it away, but my conclusion is- In 2023 YouTube offers the best platform to grow your brand, have meaningful connections with fans, and build a community, and I learned this in 30 days of starting a channel from scratch.

From January 9, 2023 to April 8, 2023 I am embarking on a 90 day challenge to achieve the following:

1. Develop a daily routine and songwriting discipline.

2. Record and release new music.

3. Get Healthy and lose 30 lbs. (Get Healthy= regular blood pressure, good blood work, cardiovascular health, and strength)

4. Test social platforms with the intent of developing a longterm strategy for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

5. Record and release new podcast episodes.

6. Build my personal brand to establish an income stream/s, and gain notoriety for my music.

Diet Protein shake daily  Greens daily Magnesium daily Whole fruits/ veggies Meats,  (Protein, fats, carbs)

Restrictions  -no alcohol -no sugar -no refined carbs -no deep fried foods -no processed food

I'm using the app "Done" app https://thedoneapp.com/ to track the challenge.  It allowed me to custom build the tasks in the challenge and specify whether they are daily, weekly, or monthly tasks.  It's perfect so far! The app also is part of a bigger bundle that is a complete self care toolkit.  I'm really happy with its user friendliness and interface.

My songwriting is the first hour of my day when I wake up.  I am using the iPhone "Notes" app in a subfolder I created called "Lyrics"- easy to track and use from both my laptop, and phone.  I'm also using my iPhone 13 Pro Max to take 4K 60fps video (that I can also use for social) to record the song ideas, in addition to using the voice memos app.

2023 is mine! And it's starts with my challenge I created called the "Focused Creator" 90 Day Challenge.

Challenges are great, but when they fail to incorporate daily tasks that help you towards achieving your goals, you can get lost in the cycle of never having enough time to devote to your challenge, your goals, and your family.  That is why I created this challenge!  What better way to improve at all the tasks that will help me live out my purpose than to incorporate them in the challenge!

In this episode I line out the details of the challenge- it's health and fitness, its social media, it's songwriting, and its broadcasting and editing among other things!

It's a matter of life or death for people like Sam Lowe who battled type 1 Diabetes since the age of 12 and ultimately became the recipient of both a kidney and pancreas.  A beautiful soul in her 20s gave Sam the ultimate gift- his life.

What's it like to know you are gonna die?  What's it like to live with someone's organs in you?  What is life like post transplant?  What are the thoughts one has through the process?  How does a spouse cope?  This and so much more were covered when I sat down with Sam and his wife Joanne.

PS- we drank whiskey, laughed, enjoyed sausage, and some of us even cried a little.

Life is short and crazy- love each other, and make connections.

Things Discussed today???

Talking COVID, motorcycles, cars, and board games with traveling nurse Robb McClune.

Meeting people like Robb makes me realize, if we don’t put ourselves out there, we deprive our life of the most enriching part- relationships and connecting with others that we would otherwise never cross paths with. Robb is a kind and selfless person who spends his work days wiping asses, keeping patients comfortable, and unfortunately dealing with loss of life, regularly. Robb’s got great insight into COVID-19 on the front lines and what we are up against, and speaks candidly about the good and the bad. And, did you know there are dedicated cruises for people who are board gamers? Robb is fascinating and just an all around great guy! I hope you enjoy our conversation!
