In this episode, Chuck reflects on a recent trip with his daughter to New York City. The polarities of diversity and sameness are explored in self, relationships, products, therapy/coaching, and more. When we want things to be the same as how other people have it, we miss out on the possibility of what is unique about this experience. He also talks about how consumer culture and expectations are a part of almost every relationship these days and we are blind to them because it is how most of us operate in this country. Can we hold the both/and of needing to have an exchange of energy and reasonable expectation that we will get what we need, without being attached to getting what we want, and it needing to be a certain way?
Here is a link to the poem that is shared - "The Lovers."
Hosted by Chuck Hancock, an ordinary human who has lived life in many roles like software engineer, psychotherapist, group facilitator, school teacher, orphan, adoptee, father, brother, mentor, coach, ceremonialist and more. Chuck is a weaver of wisdom from modern-day psychology to ancient wisdom of indigenous and European philosophy, creating alchemy from everyday American life.
