When Yahshua spoke in parables, they were and are timeless reminders of how Yahweh, our Father, feels about us. In Luke 15, Yahshua told the story of a loving father with two sons. When his lost son returned to him, the father ran and received him without hesitation, not as prodigal, but as his son. He quickly placed his own robe on the son’s shoulders, revealing his boundless love for him. The story doesn’t tell how the lost son responded, but it reveals that his brother, the slave son, complained to the father in anger, because he did not have the same perception of love that the father had. The slave son thought only of service and reward, and not love and mercy. The father gently explained to him that he saw no differences in either boys - he identified them only as his sons and there was no limit to his merciful love. In his house, there was no room for shame; there was only room for joy and happiness.
