The Mackenzie Poltergeist is a notoriously aggressive supernatural entity reputedly haunting the Covenanters' Prison in Edinburgh's Greyfriars Kirkyard. It is named after Sir George Mackenzie, a 17th-century Lord Advocate who earned the nickname "Bloody Mackenzie" for brutally persecuting religious dissenters known as the Covenanters.
