In this Episode of the "Reaching Your Peak" mini-series, (Episode #5), we have another story/lesson from Corey Jacobsen.

This week, Corey shares the story of his Idaho archery elk hunt in 2010 with his hunting partner, Donnie Drake. A herd bull gives them the slip early in the morning, and they are tricked by the echoing bugles in the narrow canyon they are hunting. This leads them to the wrong side of the canyon, where they are met with silence...until 12:30 p.m.

With the herd bull on the main ridge clear across the drainage, there is only one option, and it involves a lot of hiking. But with the bull being bedded down for the afternoon, their chances of getting in close have now increased, and they are in for an incredible "Midday Madness" experience!

“Reaching Your Peak” will be published every other week, to fill in the gap between regular ElkTalk Podcast episodes, from now until the first part of October. In this new mini-series, Corey will be sharing stories from his past elk hunts, and then detailing a strategy or tactic that was instrumental in the success of that hunt.
