028 . "Routine is there to serve you, not you to serve the routine." Babywise I believe in the power of routines! It eliminates decision fatigue and power struggles! Believe it or not, young children (and most adults) thrive under routine and consistency. PLUS it gives children a sense of control in their lives when they really have very little.
Routine also helps young and old minds order the days of the week and activities on each day! An easy way to start is with a simple morning or after school routine: Breakfast and morning family contributions + afternoon family contributions and dinner. Consistency is key! Don't deviate on when you can and cannot do things. For example, if your child asks to get on electronics before school, respond with something like "We save electronics for after school."
A really helpful phrase is, "As soon as 'x', then 'y'" "As soon as the dishwasher has been unloaded, then you can eat your breakfast."
