Maybe it's too easy to send somebody an email. And maybe when you do, you're actually doing more harm than good.
I was hiding in the basement on Cyber Monday because I was inundated with emails from hundreds of companies, many of which I hadn't heard from in years.
I wasn't alone - people were getting multiple emails in the same day from the same brand, which is ridiculous. Yes, it may be true that Cyber Monday sales were up 8% over last year, but a lot people had to piss off a lot of other people to make this happen.
Instead of clicking a button to send an email, companies need to look at email value over the long term. Just because you made your Cyber Monday sales doesn't mean this strategy is going to pay off in the long run because it will likely cause ill will and unsubscribes.
You have to be thoughtful about what you're doing and what you're sending to your subscribers.
