Today’s Scripture:
Ephesians 2:13 NIV
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Jesus, the man in the middle did something for us that no one else could do. He was the Atonement for our sins. He stood in the gap, in the middle between death and life so that we could have life in him. We are therefore, redeemed, bought back, at a cost that we could not pay. The man in the middle, Jesus paid it all for us.
How did he pay for it? With his precious, spotless, sinless blood. Forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. You can trade your sorrows for joy, your pain for healing, your shame for freedom, and your lack for plenty. Jesus gave it all on the cross to restore you and I. Paul said you who were once far have been brought near by the blood of Jesus Christ. He is speaking to all of us here. But in context, he's speaking to the Ephesians, the Gentiles who were considered outcasts, rejected, unwanted, and castaways that they have been granted access through the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
In other words, Jesus stood in the middle and bridged the gap between Jews and Gentiles so that all would come to Christ through him. I am reminded of the woman caught in adultery; the Bible says that they brought the woman to Jesus and told him she was caught in the very act. Jesus then did something; he bent down and started writing, saying nothing to them. I believe he was writing that I am the man in the Middle, and I'm the mediator of her sins. He pointed out some of their sins and said I am also your mediator. Then he said, let anyone without sin throw the first stone. Then it said,
Jesus stood in the middle for her as her mediator, and he is our man in the middle who defends us from our accusers, those who want to bring up our sins that were in our past; he is the man who bent down, came down through 42 generations, through 77 generations to redeemed all humanity, so that we would have forgiveness and access to eternal life. Just like the woman who was caught in adultery who was no doubt far away from God, Jesus stood in the middle and brought her back, near to him through his blood. We have life today through the blood of Jesus Christ and his Atonement for our sins. The man in the middle brings us near; we are no longer far, but we have intimacy with the Father through Jesus Christ.
Today, Jesus, the man in the middle, stood between the living and the dead for us. The plague that Jesus stopped was the plague of sin. We are no longer bound to sin and confined to death. No. Through the man in the middle And his blood, we have eternal life; death has no more power over us.
We can rejoice and rest assured of our salvation because Jesus stood in the middle for us, meditating for us, bringing us near, and restoring us to Himself. You don't have to fear; you are not guilty anymore. Jesus took your guilt by standing in between you and the accuser. Sin is eradicated, and Jesus is Lord over us.
