On a cold October night in 2019, Luna pulls into Rest Stop 9 off Interstate 71 in southern Ohio and finds a man sitting alone at the picnic tables, wearing a suit and holding a folded letter. He tells her he's been trying to find an exit that he saw in a dream — a dream he's had every night for three years. The exit number changes each time, but the place beyond it is always the same: a gas station with a red awning, a woman in a blue coat, and a payphone that rings when he approaches. He's driven to every rest stop between Cincinnati and Louisville, hoping to match the dream.
