The Man Who Wasn't There was set in 1949 in Santa Rosa, California, by the Coen brothers and released in 2011 about a laconic, chain-smoking barber Ed Crane who blackmails his wife's boss and lover for money so he can invest in a dry cleaning business offered to him by scheming panzi. But everything goes terribly wrong.
