A Public Information Officer (PIO) at a fire department plays a crucial role in managing and disseminating information to the public, media, and other stakeholders during emergencies and day-to-day operations. But beyond those common duties we all think of, a Public Information Officer can do much more for the Incident Commander.  Let me dig into the many duties of a PIO.
