Today is January 9, 2017. Travel back with me to this day in 1952. Today we and baseball fans everywhere will realize that the wartime era that seemingly ended with the close of World War II was merely in a short respite before igniting again with a new foe. Because today, just as in World War II, Ted Williams and many of his fellow ballplayers will again be recalled into active service.
