On September 11 1826, a New York bricklayer by the name of William Morgan, who was in the process of publishing an exposé of the ritual and secrets of the Masonic fraternity, was arrested on the charge of petty larceny. Upon his release from prison, William Morgan disappeared, never to be seen again, reportedly kidnapped and murdered by a group of Freemasons seeking to prevent the publication of his exposé. This turn of events, branded the "Morgan Affair," prompted one of the largest periods of anti-Masonic sentiment to date. This week, almost 190 years after the Morgan Affair occurred, the hosts of The Masonic Roundtable discuss the events that unfolded and the role of the Morgan Affair in the history of the Masonic fraternity.
